Letter from the President

Dear CBA Members and Friends:

It has been two tumultuous decades of growth for the CBA. Twenty-one years ago, we were a tiny group of young scientists, all with ties to China. Though tiny, we had a big vision: to create a platform for collaboration in life sciences and the biopharmaceutical industry. Thanks to the dedication of our members, CBA has grown into a truly global organization with a strong and growing reputation. We have remained true to our founding mission, promoting China-US biopharmaceutical development through global collaboration and partnership.

The CBA Annual Conference is our biggest signature event held every June, a platform that CBA has built with 20+ years’ persistent efforts for information sharing, business communications and partnership building. This year, it has been my true honor to serve as the Chair for the Organization Committee of the 2016 CBA Annual Conference, held on June 11, 2016 at the beautiful campus of MedImmune, a member of the AstraZeneca group. It was the very first time in CBA’s history to collaborate with a global pharmaceutical giant to co-host our most important event. Dedicated to bridging the biopharmaceutical development in US and China, we brought together the elite minds from around the world to share their insights on the latest progress in global biopharmaceutical development. The 2016 Conference is a big success, the 21st one in its roll.

Except the Annual Conference, CBA also organized many other activities so as to strengthen the relationships between China and the US, and to promote the Chinese biotechnology industry. These activities include bi-monthly seminars, career development workshops, conferences, forums, and project fairs, in both US and China. Years after years, CBA has established an excellent reputation for developing and enhancing friendship and cooperation within the biopharmaceutical and life sciences industries. Our efforts have been applauded by industry executives and prominent leaders from both US and China. As one of the most recognized Chinese American professional organizations in the US, CBA’s activities are popular among professionals with different cultural backgrounds. A number of prestigious scientific magazines, including Nature, Science, and Bioprocess International, have reported CBA, its event, as well as its members.

For a glorious history of twenty-one years, I would like to express my sincere gratitude, on behalf of the CBA Leadership Team, to over 3,000 individual and corporate members from industries, academia, governments and non-profits globally. Thank you for all your generous and loyal support to help CBA come so far. We promise, with our full dedication and commitment, to continue on this legacy to create and facilitate more communication, collaboration and partnership between US and China, in next twenty-one years and more years to come.

Thank you and sincerely,

XuRongJiang
